Mindfulness for Children

Coming soon… group programs for primary school children.

Lorna and Sheryl facilitated a pilot eight-week mindfulness based intervention for children in Grade Six and Seven in the first term of 2017. We drew on the planning advice, ideas, practices and insights of Dr Amy Saltzman presented in her featured book. We were delighted when Dr Amy gave us her blessing to continue using her wonderful title “A Still Quiet Place” as the name for our future interventions with young people and their families.

Most people are familiar with the story of the three little pigs. Through our mindfulness-based interventions we hope to provide children and teenagers with skills and practices that will help them to build a safe, quiet place inside of themselves. This space is one that can be returned to when life becomes unpredictable, turbulent or stressful. With ongoing mindfulness practice this space will endure. It will remain sturdy and will not be blown down by even the grumpiest, most determined wolf.
